In addition, services of Holy Communion take place on Ash Wednesday with the Imposition of Ash. There is also a service of Holy Communion on Maundy Thursday and Easter Day, and Ascension Day. At Christmas we spend an evening in each of the local pubs, carol singing.
Our worship is the central
activity underpinning everthing we undertake. All
four main churches are used in rotation; the majority
of the congregation attend all churches. Refreshments
are provided after the 11.00am services.
We continue to hold a Book of Common Prayer Holy Communion (said) Service at 9.00am most Sundays. Once per month at 6.00pm we have a Service of Evensong (except December, January, February and August). Refer to the services this month.
In addition we have an All Age Service every Sunday at 11.00am. While all ages are welcome at our services, we recognise that we also need to make this service more inclusive of all ages. Currently the Parochial Church Council and Church Committees are considering how we might do this.
On the 4th Sunday of the month at 11.00am, this is a service of Holy Communion.
When a 5th Sunday arises we see this as an opportunity to have a more informal approach while retaining our Anglican framework. Currently this is a more participatory service.
Two talented organists play at church services and direct our choir. The choir supports the hymn singing and performs choral works as appropriate. They also sing at weddings, subject to availabilty. Contact Peter Smith on 01371 870617 for more information.
A team of hand-bell ringers plays pieces on special occassions throughout the year. Flute and guitar accompaniments have recently made an appearance.
The bells are rung prior to our 11.00am service and for weddings in Great Easton church. Occasionally, other teams visit.
Many come to enjoy the rich history which the churches offer, while others come for the peace and quiet of the local surroundings - to pause and to pray.
